Laundry machine controllers and telemetry

Cash-only commercial washing machines now take QPay, run only when paid, and report every cycle: 14 of them on the same platform as the vending fleet.

Context

Commercial washing machines were never designed to be connected. Their operation relied on cash, manual bookkeeping, and in-person checks.

The problem

The operator only learned whether a machine was running, how often it was used, or whether it had failed by going there. Cash reconciliation ate time, and a stopped machine could go unnoticed for days.

What we built

Each machine received a VendCore Retrofit kit: a controller that manages operation, takes QPay QR payment, and streams usage, status, and fault data to the Beelog telemetry platform (tz.beelog.tech). The same Vend OS software that runs the vending fleet runs these machines. The machine runs once payment clears, every cycle is recorded, and revenue and usage reports build themselves. Firmware updates arrive over the air.

Where it runs

Today 14 washing machines are connected to the platform, monitored on the same infrastructure as the vending fleet. Their transactions count into the platform's 46,000+ total.

What changed

The operator now runs the service without cash handling or constant supervision. Offline alerts surface a stopped machine before customers complain, and usage data grounds decisions about the next location.
